The Givinga Foundation Nonprofit Portal ensures that donations are delivered to charities like yours quickly and securely. Charities can receive funds through electronic payments (ACH) or paper checks, with disbursements processed based on a set schedule.
Disbursement Process & Minimum Threshold
Disbursements are triggered once the total donations for your nonprofit reach the minimum threshold as outlined in the Givinga Foundation Guidelines. Instead of sending multiple small disbursements, the Givinga Foundation aggregates individual contributions to ensure efficient fund distribution. This process reduces administrative burdens, lowers processing costs, and maximizes the impact of each disbursement.
Once the threshold is met, the funds are automatically queued for disbursement via:
- ACH (electronic payment): for charities enrolled in e-payments
- Paper check: for charities not yet signed up for e-payments
How Disbursements Work
Step 1: Donation is Made
A donor contributes through a Philantech platform in our network. The funds enter the Givinga Disbursement Engine shortly thereafter.
Step 2: Cooling Period (Security Hold)
Donations undergo a mandatory cooling period to validate and secure transactions. This period also allows for any necessary adjustments, such as donation modifications or cancellations.
Step 3: Processing & Disbursing of Payments
Disbursements are processed according to your nonprofit's chosen payment method and the criteria outlined in the Givinga Foundation Guidelines.
Electronic Payments (ACH)
If your nonprofit has opted for electronic payments, funds will be securely transferred directly to your bank account shortly after the cooling period ends.
Paper Checks
If your nonprofit has not enrolled in electronic payments, a physical check will be printed and mailed after the cooling period concludes. Delivery timelines may vary depending on postal service schedules.
Minimum Disbursement Threshold
Total donations must meet the minimum disbursement threshold specified in the Givinga Foundation Guidelines before payment is processed.
Note: Actual delivery and processing times may vary due to postal service schedules or banking procedures.
How to Ensure Faster Disbursements
- Sign up for e-payments: Electronic transfers (ACH) provide faster and more secure disbursements compared to paper checks.
- Maintain an updated nonprofit profile: Regularly verify your address and banking information to avoid delays.
- Monitor your disbursement status: Check the "Pending Disbursements" section in the portal for real-time updates.
- Review expected processing timelines and payment details.
